2010-11 INCH Freshman All-Americans

Inside College Hockey is proud to announce its ninth annual INCH Freshman All-America teams. The selections were made by Inside College Hockey editors and staff, with input from media and coaches from around the country.

The INCH All-America teams are not affiliated with those of the American Hockey Coaches Association, which will release its East and West All-Americans this week.

We prefer to see college hockey as a national game—thus our Freshman All-American Team is not divided on regional lines.

2010-11 FRESHMAN ALL-AMERICA TEAM

Sam Brittain
Denver
Goaltender

Statistics: 19-9-5, 2.28 GAA, .921 sv%.

What started out as a platoon system with sophomore Adam Murray quickly became Brittain's full-time gig when Murray went down with an injury in October. His 19 wins were the most among Division I freshman goaltenders this season.

Dan DeKeyser
Western Michigan
Defenseman

Statistics: 42 GP, 5-12—17

A solid two-way blueliner, DeKeyser played a major role for the greatly improved Broncos. He was a key cog on Western Michigan's power play and penalty kill and as part of the team's top defensive pairing, was often charged with shutting down the opponent's most dangerous line.

Justin Faulk
Minnesota Duluth
Defenseman

Statistics: 37 GP, 8-22—30

The highly touted Faulk lived up to his reputation—he led all Division I freshman blueliners with eight goals and Union's Mat Bodie was the only rookie rearguard with more points. Faulk could overtake Bodie in St. Paul this week and, more importantly, add a national title to his resume.

Jaden Schwartz
Colorado College
Forward

Statistics: 30 GP, 17-30—47

Despite missing 15 games due to a turn for Canada at the World Junior Championships and an injury, Schwartz still paced the Tigers in scoring. He was nearly unstoppable in his return, scoring eight goals and 21 assists in his last 13 games.

T.J. Tynan
Notre Dame
Forward

Statistics: 43 GP, 22-31—53

Had Kyle Palmieri not signed with Anaheim Ducks last August, Tynan would've spent the season in the USHL. But Palmieri signed and Tynan filled in more than admirably, becoming just the third freshman in Irish history to crack the 50-point plateau and the first since Dave Poulin in 1978-79.

Jason Zucker
Denver
Forward

Statistics: 40 GP, 23-22—45

The Las Vegas product ranked second in the country among rookies in both goals and points, and he tied for second among all skaters nationally with seven game-winning goals. Five of those winners came against WCHA opponents.
