DALE
REINHARDT
Holy Cross
Jr. | C | Livingston, N.J.
Reinhardt scored the game's first goal in Holy
Cross' monumental upset of Minnesota in March.
Key Statistics: Reinhardt
has been averaging nearly a point per game since Christmas
2004. For the second season in a row, he finished fifth
in team scoring (11-25—36) and he led the Crusaders
with a plus-23. His scoring is not limited to Atlantic
Hockey action with four goals and six assists in 10
non-conference games, including a goal and assist in
Holy Cross’ impressive run in the NCAA West regionals.
He ranked third among the league’s sophomores,
trailing only Ben Cottreau of Mercyhurst (51 points)
and Alex Parent of Sacred Heart (38 points). For his
two-year career, he has 22 goals and 36 assists.
What He Does: Reinhardt
is a solid two-way player who utilizes a good, accurate
wrist shot and good vision to make passes. Although
he is the second-shortest player on the Crusader roster
(5-foot-9), Reinhardt can be counted on for one great
lay-out hit per game and he will play a physical style
when required.
The Bigger Picture: Holy
Cross loses 55 goals with the graduation of Tyler McGregor,
Pierre Napert-Frenette and Blair Bartlett, so Reinhardt
is going to have to fill some of the scoring void as
he moves up to top-line center. Simply shooting more
may be the solution – he ranked third on the team
in accuracy but ranked only sixth in attempts, and head
coach Paul Pearl is begging him to shoot more.
Holy Cross head coach Paul Pearl
on Reinhardt: “He’s really smart.
He has as much hockey sense as any kid I’ve coached.
If you are a hockey guy, you definitely enjoy watching
him play, just the way he goes about it.”
